What we do with your data.
Short version: we collect what we need to evaluate your application, store it on a server we control, never sell it, and delete it twelve months after Cohort 01 ends.
What we collect
When you submit the application form, we collect:
- Full name, email, phone, and city
- University, field of study, stage of study
- English self-assessment
- GitHub profile URL and optional portfolio URL
- Your CV (PDF) and the motivation text you write
- Your responses to the six confirmation checkboxes
Why we collect it
To evaluate your application for the COMMIT '26 internship. That's it. We do not use this data to build a marketing list, sell to third parties, or share with companies outside Binary Tech.
Where it lives
Submissions are received by our application backend hosted on Binary Tech infrastructure (Hostinger VPS in Lithuania, EU). The CV file is stored on the same server. The application email is delivered to hr@binary.ly.
How long we keep it
We retain your application data for the duration of the selection process plus twelve months after Cohort 01 ends (so roughly through September 2027), then it is permanently deleted. If you want it deleted sooner, email hr@binary.ly with the subject line "delete my application" and we will action it within 30 days.
Who can see it
The selection committee at Binary Tech (currently three people: the CEO, the technical lead, and the program manager). No-one outside this group reads your application.
Your rights
You can ask us, at any time, to:
- Show you a copy of the data we hold on you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your data entirely
- Stop using your data for anything beyond reviewing your application
Email hr@binary.ly for any of the above.
Interview recording
If your application is shortlisted, we will invite you to a 30-minute video interview on Google Meet. The shortlist email asks you to confirm a specific time slot. Clicking the Confirm button in that email also acknowledges that the interview will be recorded.
Specifically:
- A bot called "Binary Notetaker" (provided by Recall.ai, EU region) joins the meeting and records audio and video for the full duration.
- The recording is automatically transcribed and the transcript is sent to an AI assistant ("Claude" by Anthropic) which produces a structured summary scored against our selection rubric (English, technical, motivation, red flags).
- The transcript and AI summary are reviewed by the same Binary Tech committee that reviews your written application. No third party reads them.
- We store the recording, transcript, and AI summary for the duration of the selection process and then delete them on the same timeline as the rest of your application data (twelve months after Cohort 01 ends).
- You can withdraw consent and request immediate deletion of the recording at any time by emailing hr@binary.ly. We will action that within 30 days. Withdrawing consent does not affect your standing in the selection process.
If you would prefer your interview not be recorded, reply to the shortlist email saying so and we will arrange an unrecorded slot with a committee member.
Security
The form submits over HTTPS only. Files are scanned for malware on receipt. Access to the application database is restricted by SSH key and IP allow-list to the three committee members. Backups are encrypted at rest.
